Château Petrus is undoubtedly one of the most famous French wines in the world, a true oenological jewel. This extraordinary wine is made up of 95% Merlot and the remaining 5% Cabernet Franc.

Château Petrus is a legendary wine, which continues to fascinate and surprise. Its extraordinary structure and purity make it unmistakable, suggesting its aging capacity. It is a wine that can be enjoyed with pleasure for at least 30 years or even more, constantly revealing new layers of complexity and refinement over time.

  • Characteristics : Its spectacular dense ruby hue immediately captures attention. On the nose, delicate and fascinating nuances of mulberry, black cherries, currants, liquorice, coffee, caramel and truffle reveal themselves. Its character is decisive and complex, giving a unique experience to the palate, while the fine and delicate tannins blend harmoniously.
  • Method : In July, a drastic green pruning is carried out which significantly reduces the quantity of grapes, favoring quality. During the harvest, a team of almost 200 people is employed, allowing the grapes from the 12 hectares of vineyard to be harvested in a single afternoon. Usually, Petrus is produced using exclusively Merlot grapes, but when weather conditions permit, a small percentage of Cabernet Franc is also added, thus obtaining perfect maturation. This is how season after season, the great book of international oenology is enriched with a new page.

Pétrus

The Petrus property only took shape in 1920, when Madame Loubat inherited land in Pomerol, an area that was considered second class for viticulture at the time. From the beginning, however, the enormous potential of the wines produced by Château Petrus was evident, so much so that in 1964 the famous wine shop Jean Pierre Moueix became co-owner of the cellar. The secret of the quality of Petrus lies in the union of a unique terroir and the careful care dedicated to each production phase. Even in the cellar, great attention is paid to precision and attention to detail. Added to this is the great commercial ability of the Moueix family, which has led this wine to be known throughout the world, making it a star of the wine market. Usually, Petrus is produced using exclusively Merlot grapes, but when weather conditions permit, a small percentage of Cabernet Franc is also added, thus obtaining perfect maturation.
