A major appellation of the Côte de Nuits, in size as well as reputation, Gevrey-Chambertin is characterized by a great diversity of terroir. There is no white wine here, only pinot noir is grown. The vines benefit from marl covered with scree and red silt from the plateau. These gravels give the wine elegance and finesse, while the marl rich in fossil shells and clay gives it body and compactness.

  • Tasting : On the nose, this Gevrey-Chambertin exudes aromas of very ripe red and black fruits on woody and spicy notes, the years bring it animal, musky and fur notes. Maison Albert Bichot

The first traces of the Bichot family date back to 1214. From 1350 it took root in Burgundy, in its stronghold of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois. The family coat of arms has remained unchanged since then, nor its symbol: the doe. In 1831, Bernard Bichot founded a trading house in his name in Monthélie. He is succeeded by his son Hippolyte who buys the first vineyards in Volnay, already convinced that upstream control is fundamental. His son Albert Bichot, I of the name, gave new impetus to the family business at the end of the 19th century and finally established it in the center of Beaune in 1912. Albert Bichot II of the name, born in 1900, is one of the pioneers of international trade . North America, Asia, Oceania… He travels tirelessly to allow connoisseurs to taste our wines, which are already recognized as among the best. In the second half of the 20th century, his four sons Albert, Bernard, Bénigne and Jean-Marc became the heirs of this know-how. A new era of development begins with the construction of a large aging cellar, a new bottling center and cellars. Our wines are then present internationally, in many countries. After exploring the world (from the far north to Terre Adélie), Albéric Bichot joined the house in the early 1990s and took over its management in 1996. While respecting the family tradition, he is completely focused about the future. He readily identifies with a "conductor, who takes pride in uniting men and their talents around a project." Because the challenges are many; the transition to organic farming of our vineyards in Côte-d'Or, the perpetual adaptation to new markets, the promotion and influence of Burgundy wines... Convinced that the quality of wines depends above all on the quality of the grapes, develops control of the mountain that began in the early 1980s. It will establish supplies, expand our winemaking capacity and aging cellars over the years. 2010. The house's wine heritage will also grow to 6 estates, from north to south of Burgundy.
