From the union of Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes from the best vineyards of Le Mortelle. Ampio was born from an idea, made possible in an excellent vintage, to represent the maximum expression of the Maremma terroir.

  • Vinification: Ampio comes from the best vineyards of Le Mortelle, from grapes harvested in small boxes and taken to the cellar for careful manual sorting. Only selected grapes reached the special truncated cone tanks filled by gravity, ensuring the integrity of each fruit. Their shape and the particular punching down system guarantee a delicate but decisive winemaking process, capable of enhancing the aromas, the tannin balance and the characteristics of each variety. The different lots, separated by varietal, underwent malolactic fermentation in new French oak barriques and were then allowed approximately 18 months of aging before being assembled. Ampio rested for a further 12 months in the bottle before being presented on the market.
  • Tasting Notes: Appearance : The wine has an intense and lively ruby color, with violet reflections that suggest youth and vitality.
Smell : Intense aromas of ripe red fruits emerge on the nose, such as strawberries and cherries, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper and light hints of vanilla and tobacco, which give complexity to the bouquet.
Taste : Full and enveloping in the mouth, with a good tannic structure that gives solidity to the wine. The red fruits return to the palate, enriched by nuances of licorice and a pleasant hint of dark chocolate. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of warmth.

Le Mortelle Estate

Fattoria Le Mortelle is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a few kilometers from Castiglione della Pescaia, in an extraordinary and fascinating position both for the nature and the history of the places that surround it. The family has worked on both the vineyards and the new cellar since 1999 with the belief that the area, still emerging in the Italian wine scene, is highly suited to the production of quality wines and that here the characteristics of the terroir and of the cultivated varieties. The farm extends over 270 hectares of which 170 are planted with vineyards. The Antinori family has always been present in these lands. In 1863, a patrimonial deed mentions Poggio Franco, one of the most suitable vineyards on the estate, among the possessions, together with other parcels of land.
