This vine of Germanic origin has found an ideal terroir of adoption in Alto Adige. Riesling needs particular conditions and prefers a cool, sunny climate. These conditions are present in the areas around Lake Monticolo and in neighboring microzones, where the porphyritic soils give the wine its special character. Riesling Montiggl stands out for its fruity aromas and mineral freshness which make it an increasingly appreciated champion.

  • Characteristics : With a greenish yellow colour, it immediately releases intense aromas of white peach and fresh apricot. With a noble, balanced, mineral taste.
  • Pairings : It is a true all-rounder that goes well with light fish dishes as well as with those of Asian cuisine and vegetable-based recipes. In spring it is recommended with asparagus salad and dishes based on Tyrolean "Easter" cooked ham and Bolzanina sauce. A pleasure also when paired with goat's cheeses.

S. Michele Appiano winery

For over a century the San Michele Appiano winery, with 320 families of winemakers and 385 hectares of vineyards, has taken care of the most important wine-growing municipality in Alto Adige: Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, located at the gates of the Dolomites. The land offers exceptional characteristics for the cultivation of unmistakable wines. Harvest after harvest, passion has become culture. The 330 families of winemakers form the backbone of San Michele Appiano. For them, viticulture represents a great passion passed down through generations. Each winemaker contributes with knowledge, passion and dedication to ensuring that the winery has excellent grapes to transform and refine with care and sensitivity. This is only possible thanks to precise, accurate and careful work in the vineyard, carried out with respect for the environment, starting with skilful leaf removal and targeted thinning of the bunches. This guarantees maximum quality, naturally stimulating the biological balance of the soil and the vine, which has a huge impact on the entire ecosystem of the terroir, the most important capital of winemakers.
