History Tenuta Montenisa

Tenuta Montenisa is located in the heart of Franciacorta, around the village of Calino, a jewel of this sweet part of Italy, where ancient palaces, convents, abbeys and churches scattered among the green hills and morainic valleys have seen centuries of history pass by. Some say that “Franciacorta” originates from “Petite France”, an affectionate name given to it by Charlemagne. The varieties that traditionally best lend themselves to the production of Franciacorta are grown on the estate. Chardonnay, with a typical aroma with floral and fruity notes, Pinot Noir, which gives structure and personality, Pinot Bianco, savory and mineral. The historic vineyards of the estate are located on the S. Stefano hill: their prized grapes, with an intense aroma, give the wine complexity and balance. The most recent vineyards planted in a plot surrounded by a wall known locally as "brolo" are destined to produce great grapes for a great wine. Under the porticoes that delimit the estate's building complex there are the winemaking and aging cellars. Here, the bottled wine matures on the yeasts for long periods, exceeding the minimum periods prescribed by the specification. The remuage is still carried out with the utmost attention paid to each individual bottle. The result of this set of measures and winemaking processes are the perfect expression of the territory.
