This Rosso di Montalcino DOC Bio stands out for its youth and liveliness, offering a unique sensorial experience with its gastronomic versatility.

  • Vinification : Through a cold pre-fermentative maceration followed by spontaneous fermentation and maceration on the skins for 10 days in temperature-controlled steel tanks, this Sangiovese is ready to be enjoyed and promises to surprise over time. The careful selection of Sangiovese aims to preserve the freshness and fruity profile of the wine.
  • Aging : After vinification, the wine ages in French and Slavonian oak barrels (10-50 hl) for approximately 9 months, allowing the Rosso di Montalcino to develop complexity and harmony.
  • Tasting : The lively ruby red releases inviting aromas of cherry and red berries, while a distinctive note of salinity blends elegantly with the scents of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, this wine is fresh and direct, with integrated tannins and a flavor that invites another sip.

Argiano estate

Thanks also to the building of the cellar, the winemaking vocation of Argiano was born in the same years, over four centuries ago. In the 1616 manuscript by Bartolomeo Gherardini, Auditor General in Siena on behalf of the Grand Duke Cosimo III de Medici, the production of oil is also mentioned. Over the centuries the estate changed hands between various noble families, until it came under the enlightened management of Donna Ersilia Caetani Lovatelli in the 19th century who managed to make Argiano's products known and promoted in the best cultural salons of the time. Famous is what the great poet Carducci declaimed with the verse "in which harshness I calm myself with Argiano wine, which is very good".

Argiano won the gold medal at the Brussels Food Fair in 1932 for the production of fine table and dessert wines and in 1935 was present at the Exhibition Market of Typical Wines of Italy. In 1967 Argiano made the history of Brunello di Montalcino by participating as a founding company in the birth of the Consortium. In 1992 the estate passed from Caetani Lovatelli to Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano who introduced important innovations in the management of the winery and was responsible for the relaunch of the Argiano name. With the countess comes the world-famous winemaker Giacomo Tachis; an extraordinary partnership that will lead to the birth of Solengo, the great Supertuscan of Montalcino. This brings us to the present day, with the change of ownership in 2013 and the leadership of the company in the hands of Bernardino Sani, who since 2015 has also signed the wines.

Since 2019 Argiano has been the first plastic-free company in Montalcino. All single-use plastics have been eliminated. The inspiration is the circular model, an approach that starts from separate waste collection, follows the Return Rule, i.e. the reuse of company waste such as stalks and prunings, and supports the 4 Rs for the environment: reduce, recover, recycle, reuse . Argiano practices organic and regenerative agriculture. It believes in the balance of biodiversity and pursues it through soil fertility practices, naturally aiding with algae, chestnut tannin, propolis and zeolite. Insecticides, even natural ones, are banned; yes instead to sexual confusion and the launching of antagonistic insects. The “bees” project with the hives next to the vineyards joins the Mycorrhizae and Microzonation project. The latter in particular, as there are different microzones within the individual vineyards, allows specific and targeted approaches.
